Our ESG Strategy

Each of our businesses developed and launched their sustainability strategies in 2023, built on the three pillars of People, Planet and Partners. In 2025, to provide the leadership and investment needed to take our ESG performance to new levels, we assigned ESG to our CFO, Martin Edstrom, and made the execution of the ESG strategy and the measurement of key metrics a group-level responsibility.

We see sustainability as a core challenge and we approach it in a driven, positive way, mirroring our attitude to every business challenge we face. We are determined to exceed our sustainability targets by embracing new technology and the latest international best practice.

Implementation

We set ESG targets both at group and regional level based on our three pillars of People, Planet and Partners. This allows our divisions to develop locally relevant targets and programmes and support our overall goals, including:

  • Deliver our clients’ sustainability goals and aspirations through our partnerships with them
  • Exceed legislative and regulatory commitments
  • Support the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals

We want to help people prosper by creating a workplace that engages happy, healthy colleagues through meaningful work. We will deliver the following:

    • Staff satisfaction survey to understand how our colleagues experience our workplace
    • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion - Gender pay and DEI balance targets at regional level
    • Social Value partnerships at regional level

We want to help combat climate change, biodiversity loss and waste, and our targets reflect that ambition:

    • Emissions - Carbon Net Zero by 2050
    • Waste – Zero waste to landfill
    • Regional nature and biodiversity regeneration programmes

We will work across our supply chain to benchmark ESG credentials and identify the opportunities to deliver our People and Planet targets. Our Partners programmes include:

    • Ethical procurement framework and benchmarking of ESG credentials across our supply chain
    • Improving accuracy of supply chain carbon measurement
    • Regional supply chain Carbon Net Zero targets
